For Paris Design Week, Porte B. invites artist and designer Alice Roux to present her latest pieces for a unique Take Over at the gallery.

Alice Roux, a French designer and decorator based in Brussels, is fascinated by the concept and notion of "decor": the sense of space, imaginary places, and unusual architecture. Her artistic vocabulary revolves around the notions of volume, light, and space.

Inspired by the work of Sonia Delaunay and her exploration of materials and techniques related to applied arts, Alice Roux experimented with multiple practices before dedicating herself fully to her work as a designer. Drawing on her experience in scenography and stage direction, her "furniture-paintings" are defined at the boundary between art and design.

Each object she designs is crafted from walnut and then covered with hand-painted and lacquered motifs—a technique she spent considerable time perfecting. The result is a thick, transparent texture that appears malleable. Elementary structures imbued with a geometric, sometimes organic, colorful or monochrome pictorial language, her pieces offer a vision of a universe of enveloping forms and colors.
