

MARGUERITE BORNHAUSER
Marguerite Bornhauser is a visual artist and photographer born in 1989 who lives and works in Paris. After studying literature and journalism, she enrolled at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, graduating in 2015. Her first solo institutional exhibition was held at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in 2019.
Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in museums, galleries, and festivals worldwide: in France (Paris, Arles, Toulouse, Deauville, etc.) as well as in London, Brussels, Istanbul, Lisbon, Switzerland, Kyoto, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Bahrain. She also exhibited in public spaces in 27 Paris metro stations in 2020 and on billboards in the United States with the Cincinnati Art Museum in 2015. In 2020, she won the Emerging Photographer of the Year award at Photo London. In 2021, the Grand Palais gave her free rein to document the renovation project over the four-year duration of the works, resulting in a publication and an exhibition. In 2022, she was selected by Paris Photo's guest of honor, Rossy de Palma, and by Thomas Girst for BMW.
Marguerite Bornhauser most often complements her photographic research with editorial work. Her first book was published in 2017. Her second book, 8, was published by Poursuite the following year. In 2019, she published her third book, Red Harvest, also with Poursuite. She published her fourth book with La Martinière in 2021 and is preparing to publish her fifth book, When Black is Burned, in 2023 with Simple Editions.
