DRESSED MEMORY

Exhibition from October 7th to November 12th, 2023

On the occasion of the Rencontres Photographiques du 10e, the Porte B. gallery is hosting this autumn the first solo show of the duo Pierre & Florent entitled Mémoire habillée.

A photographic mural depicting piles of clothing and objects guides us from the gallery's entrance hall to the main exhibition space, where a series of portraits is presented. These items resonate with the people to whom they once belonged. Accumulated, lost, or rediscovered, clothing reflects both our consumer society and our most intimate memories. Through this series of portraits of family, friends, and strangers, Pierre and Florent question our relationship to our environment, our history, our self-image, and our place in society. Each protagonist is perched atop their own dome, a symbol of their memories and their life. This dome, formed by an accumulation of clothing, also reflects our consumer societies. Without us even realizing it, our clothes reflect our profession, our affiliations, but can also be a disguise, camouflage, or even a political act.
