Jonathan Bertin
Jonathan Bertin is a color photographer, equally adept at digital and film photography. Attentive to details and the seemingly insignificant, he reveals a poetry of the everyday, elevating the utterly mundane to the status of subject matter. Through his images, he seeks to share personal sensations and atmospheres, at once intimate and universal, ephemeral and destined to be forgotten.
For Photo Days, Galerie Porte B. presents Jonathan Bertin's first major solo exhibition in Paris, bringing together his Impressionism and Seoul Impressionism series.
In 2023 and 2024, following an initial commission from the Normandy Region, he returned to his native region. He fully embraced this landscape and developed the Impressionism series there. Inspired by the Impressionist movement, this series explores photography through the lens of movement and color.
From Normandy to the vibrant streets of Seoul, a dialogue unfolds between photography and painting. Scenes of life, landscapes, and simple moments are captured and then transformed by blur and light into poignant memories. Her work exists within a temporality that evokes both the 19th century of Monet and the sweetness of a moment just lived.
