Camille Ménard
Fascinated by the Italian counter-design movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Camille founded her studio, Agnst Design, in Paris in 2019, driven by a belief in the emancipatory power of object design. With freedom being intimately linked to knowledge, Agnst Design envisions the designed object as a means for the user to grasp the underlying mechanisms behind their choices—offering a way to escape social alienation. Each project proposed by the studio is thus an invitation to reflect: infused with humor, the objects and experiences offered deepen our understanding of the world and affirm the independence of a way of thinking grounded in action.

An artist-designer trained at the Beaux-Arts and the École Boulle, Camille Ménard develops a critical stance toward consumerist design and contemporary art often reduced to an elitist marker through the abstraction of its concepts. Her work, resolutely democratic, fosters closeness with people by enabling immediate enjoyment through the language of concrete functionality.

Through her pieces, Camille Ménard offers a reflection on contemporary behaviors, wrapping them in a touch of humor and lightness. Her creations serve as a joyful and creative escape from modern-day alienation, and a form of artistic resistance to the diktats of today’s world.
