CAMILLE MÉNARD

Fascinated by Italian counter-design of the 1960s and 70s, Camille founded her studio Agnst Design in Paris in 2019, convinced of the emancipatory power of object design. Since freedom is intimately linked to knowledge, Agnst Design sees in the design object the possibility for the user to understand the mechanisms at work in their choices, in order to escape social alienation. Each project proposed by the studio is thus an invitation to reflect: tinged with humor, the objects and experiences offered advance our understanding of the world and test the independence of a way of thinking invested in the way we act.

An artist and designer trained at the Beaux-Arts and the École Boulle, Camille Ménard develops a critical perspective on consumerist design and contemporary art, often transformed into a symbol of elitist distinction through the abstraction of its concepts. Her resolutely democratic work cultivates a close connection with humanity by enabling immediate enjoyment through the language of concrete functionality.

Through her pieces, Camille Ménard offers us a reflection on contemporary behaviors, all while enveloping them in a touch of humor and lightness. Her creations are a joyful and creative escape from modern alienation, and a form of artistic resistance to the dictates of the current world.
