BEATRICE BISSARA

Béatrice Bissara explores "the doors of perception and beyond," or an "ecology of consciousness," through various artistic approaches to sensory exploration: "sculpted" paintings with a meditative effect, synesthetic installations, and books of whispers and mysteries. Her concept of "Ecology of Consciousness" is part of a broader inquiry raised by the Anthropocene, questioning humanity's vision of the world, its place within it, and the connections that bind it to the cosmos.

By establishing links between Body-Space-Time and Consciousness, it explores the evolving relationship between humankind and the world, and the gradual questioning of a dualistic vision of a dominant Western world where humanity is separated from nature, in favor of a more cosmological vision where humanity is no longer the center of the universe. This vision is traditionally present in certain tribes and is now being echoed by the scientific community through discoveries in numerous fields, such as astrophysics, neuroscience, and biology.

Whether it is sculpture, painting, installation with light, and/or kinetic and sound devices, she specifies: "In my work, I experiment with these temporal, poetic and immersive processes so that art becomes an experiential 'moment', capable of redefining, or even breaking down, the boundaries between body, space, time and consciousness."

Inspired by the pointillism method - widely used by the aborigines - Béatrice Bissara reveals the meditative and hypnotic dimension of the pictorial gesture through her series of works on canvas entitled "Horizons".
