On the occasion of his first solo exhibition in Paris, the Portuguese artist Vasco Mourão invites you to an urban and poetic stroll within the Porte B gallery. From New York to Tokyo via Paris and Hong Kong, he captures the striking beauty and complexity of large metropolises. A great traveler and lover of architecture, Vasco Mourão tells us about the emblematic cities that have marked his career: his works in ink on paper, on metal and on marble offer an intimate vision of the habitat, revealing the details of the buildings, their light, their shapes, their textures. Caught in the continuous flow of tirelessly repeated building motifs, his drawings vibrate under the effect of a strange circulation. The human figure, most often absent, sometimes appears in the form of anonymous people who are drawn on the inanimate facades. A way for the artist to give back to the city its soul, its identity. With a mastery of composition and a meticulous technique, Vasco Mourão creates works that are both striking and subtle, which capture the spirit of the cities while leaving the observer enough space for imagination and contemplation.
