Coup d'éclat
Opening on Saturday, November 23 - Exhibition from November 23 to December 21
Olivia De Bona
From November 23 to December 21, 2024, the Porte B. gallery presents “Coup d'Eclat”, a unique exhibition by Olivia de Bona produced by eight hands with three talented creators: Élisabeth Bikond Nkoma (ceramicist), Carine Gold Dalg (stained glass artist) and Jackie Tadeoni (embroiderer). At the crossroads of materials, techniques and know-how, together they reinvent the representation of women in contemporary art.
In this resolutely collaborative approach, Olivia de Bona engaged in a collective work where each artist enriched the project with their own vision and technical mastery. This joint work, reinforced by artistic residencies and an experimental creative process, allowed the creation of new works embodying Olivia's commitment to artisanal innovation and the reinvention of traditions.
The works on display revisit and redefine traditional representations of women through varied materials and perspectives:
• Élisabeth Bikond Nkoma, through her enameled ceramics, gives the female figure an aura of ancient divinity, expressing power and timeless sensuality.
• Carine Gold Dalg reveals, in her stained glass windows, a femininity surrounded by light, both sacred and vulnerable, where the fragility of the support underlines the delicacy of her figures.
• Jackie Tadeoni captures the movement and grace of a dancing woman through plays of shine and volume, exalting the fluidity of the thread and the voluptuousness of the satin.
• Olivia de Bona, through her wood and straw marquetry enhanced with paint, composes the portrait of a woman sublimated by a chosen solitude, finding herself in a powerful inner light.
Through a diversity of materials – wood, earth, glass, fabric, straw and a central theme around women, the works presented offer an open vision of femininity. Inspired by the clean lines and geometric patterns of Art Deco, these four artists pay homage to this movement while reinterpreting it through a contemporary exploration of materials. Blending art and craftsmanship, they offer an immersive and sensory experience, reflecting the richness and audacity of contemporary creation.
